As I mentioned under the About page – I was born on the 19th of November 1981, and is the oldest of 4 children. I grew up in the town named Horten, and this is the place I really do want to remain at for the entire span of my life. At an early age I was made aware of my skills regarding drawing and design, and the path was carved in stone when I got my first computer in the early 90’s. Ever since then I spent countless hours in front of the computer.
Most of the kids at my age around then spent the time at the computer either playing games, or (later on) surfing the web, but I quickly gained interrest for programming when I found an old book learning Quick Basic. This quickly evolved into interrest for “real” programming, and I ended up learning Visual Basic. A quick glance at Delphi, but I never found the syntax to be that interresting, so I soon found myself back in the Microsoft world.
This interrest kept strong, and while I finished the schools, the interrest just grew stronger. At the same time I also spent time learning miscellaneous drawing programs, and when Adobe Photoshop got launched, I was hooked. In my childhood you could say I wasn’t quite the ordinary kid; I enjoyed spending time learning history, and I spent quite a lot of time diving into the history from 600 b.c. to 1800 b.c.
Being a geek, both a computer geek and a history geek I was lucky enough to grow up near one of the North Europes biggest collection of viking graves. I’ve lost count on how many hours I’ve spent there, dreaming and reading. Now; being a geek you can’t be a complete geek without being in a band; and in 1988 I started learning the drums; and to this date – I still play. So you could say I am the perfect geek in any way. The bands I’ve played in through the years are:
For quite a few years I ran the worlds largest online Tolkien Community (The Hideout of Imladris). Sadly I lost the entire webpage and system I coded in a large fire at the University of Twente in the Netherlands where it was hosted. The plan is to re-launch this community and re-take that position sometime the next few years, but bringing it back require quite a bit of work and I have no intention of putting it back online if I am not able to create a better community than what I ran back then.
My deep interrest for Tolkien originates both from my interrest for old history, but the great spark came when I at the age of 10 got the book – The Hobbit – from my uncle. And ever since then I’ve thrown myself at anything Tolkien.
