Free Design Template – Spot On

Today I am pleased to announce this new little design template I’ve made. The template is pure PSD template, which means you have the complete source to the elements. This version does not come with HTML/CSS due to limited time, but if anyone decides to use it, I would be thrilled to be told, and happy if you then decided to give the HTML/CSS or even wordpress-template away for others here. Credit for that would of course go to you. A bit glimpse of this design can be seen either at the frontpage, or by clicking here.

GMail’s new Clothes

Those of you whom uses GMail probably noticed the GUI upgrade they performed not long ago, even though it now should be considered as “old news”, I still would like to write a few words about it. One of the things that struck me was their new and – if I may add – well-done button groups. You’ve probably seen it yourself, if not – here’s a screen grab.

Now, the buttons themselves are nice, though the combination they’ve used here, as well as the technical solutions are something I would surely try to implement myself. Even with graphics turned off in your browser they will still appear to have that nice little fade with some nifty CSS tricks. Check out these sources for more in-depth information; I surely found it interresting.

The other day I stumbled upon the webpage TypeChart. A brilliant webpage for those of us that works in design and typesetting. Here you can quickly and easily check how different fonts works against eachother, on both Windows and MacOSX platform. It covers a variety of features, and you can easily and quickly change between fonts, fontsizes and emphasis. And when you’re all done, you can then quickly have the CSS code generated for you for usage in your designs.
